Longarm Quilting Services Policies

  • By leaving your quilt with Steele Makes, you accept these Terms and Conditions.
  • I provide edge-to-edge quilting services only. Any additional services, such as trimming, binding, and repairs, are available only by prior arrangement and may incur extra charges.
  • Please press and square quilt top and backing.
  • Backing must be at least 10" wider and 10" longer than the assembled quilt top.
  • Mark the top edge of the quilt top and backing with a safety pin.
  • You may supply your own batting. 80/20 Hobbs batting is available for purchase at $10/yard. If supplying batting, it must be 8" wider and 8" longer than the assembled quilt top.
  • A thread charge of $10 will be applied to each quilt. I use only high quality Isacord thread.
  • Choose from the available designs. I will confirm thread color and design before starting. Once quilting has started, design or thread changes may not be possible and may incur additional fees.
  • Quilting charges are estimated at drop off and finalized on completion. Pricing is based on quilt size, density, and any additional services.
  • A non-refundable 50% deposit is required to secure a place in the queue.
  • Typical turnaround time is 4-6 weeks from the date the quilt is accepted, depending on the current queue length. Rush jobs may be accepted for an additional charge as the schedule allows.
  • Completed quilts must be picked up and paid for within 14 days of completion. Quilts left beyond 14 days with incur a storage fee of $20 per week. If not collect within 90 days, I reserve the right to dispose of or sell the quilt to cover costs. You will be notified in writing prior to action.
  • I am located just North of Pittsburgh, PA. Arrangements can be made to meet for quilt drop off and pick up. If mailing a quilt, please insure the package includes a prepaid return label. We are not responsible for shipping damage. Any mail-in quilt should be insured for it's replacement value.
  • I take care and attention with every quilt, but I am not responsible for pre-existing damage, shrinkage, color bleeding, fabric defects, or embellishments (buttons, pins, beads) left in quilts.
  • I may photograph completed quilts for my portfolio and social media unless you request otherwise.
  • If you are not satisfied with the workmanship, notify me within 7 days of pickup. I will evaluate and, where appropriate, correct the work. Additional rework may incur reasonable charges.
